150 babies! That is how many young patients the doctors of the Republic of Kazakhstan managed to save through their air ambulance aircraft between January and June 2018.
The Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan stated that last year, air ambulance services were provided to more than 450 infant patients. It is noteworthy that some of these new-borns weighed just less than a kilogram.
In the first half of this year, air ambulance aircraft carried out a total of 982 flights in and around the Republic of Kazakhstan. The doctors manage to assist 1,072 patients.
New-borns are airlifted following a special procedure: for this, specialised equipment is installed on the aircraft. The aircraft is especially equipped with high-tech automatic oxygen-supply devices. For babies in cubicles, a constant optimal temperature is maintained for them, while premature babies are accompanied by a team of specialised doctors tasked with regulating his / her breathing and heart functions.
Some statistics: in the first half of 2018, air ambulance aircraft transported 17.3% of new-borns with pathologies (out of the total number of children reported ill).
